Basics in beekeeping – training course

During the summer months we run regular Basics in Beekeeping courses over weekends designed to teach you how to work with bees. We have been running courses for over 12 years now and have developed a comprehensive, hardworking, and hands-on approach to teaching all levels of beekeepers our proven methods.
Our standard course content is at intermediate level and is not aimed at the bee-hugger! If you know of any newcomers to the beekeeping profession, please refer them to our programmes.

Our delegate numbers are small, (maximum 8 to 9 persons) and everybody gets to work on our beehives in the farming environment.

The course is run over a weekend period for two full days and in addition to lecture and practical discussion sessions also includes practical field work managing and working on bees.

A practical beekeeping lesson with students... harvesting 2 full supers of Boekenhout honey off the last hive at midday in 40° heat out in the North West. We had already worked on the other hives at two sites since 7 o'clock and pulled off double supers from most of the boxes. The weather wasn't kind, but time is running out before the warm climate changes! It was pointless leaving behind one beehive at that time of day. BTW, no bees were harmed in the making of this video! 😊 And the bees were not aggressive! Just surprised by our unanticipated visit!
